Job Title: Senior 3D Material Artist Location: West Midlands, United Kingdom Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior 3D Material Artist to join our Tech and Data Hub Model Production Team. This pivotal role will involve the creation of high-quality 3D visualisation models that meet both creative and technical standards. The primary focus is on delivering physically accurate digital materials, supported by a deep understanding of photography, optics, and digital scanning techniques. As part of the team, you will contribute to a variety of use cases, including vehicle design, materiality, brand representation, and customer-ready workstreams. Cross-functional collaboration will be essential to your success in this role. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain physically accurate materials and shaders for a variety of CGI projects. Create complex textures and manage material libraries. Capture physical references and perform data management to ensure accurate reproduction of real-world materials. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of materials across different project phases. Continually improve internal processes to enhance efficiency and quality of materials and textures. Essential Skills & Experience: 5+ years of experience in texturing, material, and shader creation within the CGI industry. Expert understanding of real-world materials, energy-conserving principles, and physically based rendering (PBR). Expertise in building and maintaining complex shading networks, focusing on methodical and efficient design. Proficient in capturing physical references for digital reproduction, with a strong knowledge of photography, optics, and digital scanning techniques. Experience with V-Ray and Autodesk Maya for material creation. Extensive experience with Unreal Engine for material development. Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator). Proficient in Substance Designer for texture creation. Expert in data/file management. Strong understanding of 3D model topology, UV mapping, and UDIM workflows. Experience in working to defined processes and technical standards (pipeline). Ability to design and implement workflow improvements for ongoing projects. MS Office365 proficiency. Relevant degree or equivalent industry experience preferred
