New Business Manager

Salary: £50,000-£55,000 DOE

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead the identification and generation of new business opportunities across the UK.
  • Manage, coach, and performance-manage a team of 3 Regional Business Development Managers and 3 Sales Executives, setting clear objectives and KPIs.
  • Run regular team meetings, pipeline reviews, and joint customer visits to drive consistent performance.
  • Oversee research into potential clients, markets, and industry trends, turning insight into targeted business development plans.
  • Support the team to build and maintain strong customer relationships through consultative selling.
  • Lead negotiations and deal closure, ensuring commercial viability and alignment with pricing models.     
  • Pitch and present solutions to customers and stakeholders, including at sector events.
  • Ensure effective handover and onboarding of new customers by coordinating with internal teams.
  • Maintain strong pipeline/forecast reporting and improve sales analysis processes to ensure high-quality data.
  • Contribute to cross-business initiatives and strategic projects aligned with organisational objectives.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven leadership and line management experience of field-based sales teams.
  • Strong track record in consultative selling and new business development.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • High-level negotiation skills and demonstrable deal-closing capability.
  • Strong relationship management, networking, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Commercial acumen, with confidence working to targets, KPIs, and forecasts.
  • Data analysis and pipeline management capability, with high IT/MS systems literacy.
  • Knowledge of the education/professional body and/or automotive retail sectors.
  • Desirable: Experience of awarding or professional body operations.
  • Other requirements: Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel extensively across the UK, including overnight stays when required.

Qualifications: Sales training and/or relevant commercial qualifications (training/education sector qualifications are desirable).
