Job Title: STA Engineer Location: Gaydon, Warwickshire Rate: £33.88ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £25.26ph PAYE Employment Type: Contract (Currently financed until Approx: 10/04/2026) Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week Reference: J(phone number removed) Job Description: This role manages our client's current model programmes and supports escalations from our client's Plant teams relating to quality or delivery performance issues impacting our client's ability to meet Customer First targets. (Zero Line-stop, Zero Mis-fit, Zero Holds, Zero Defects). A structured diagnosis and practical problem solving approach will be required to understand root cause(s) and drive implementation of counter measures for specific issues escalated from the plant teams. Management of these high-risk suppliers will be through our client's escalation process. This structured approach will also be required to support and drive resolution of higher severity plant Stop Ship and our client's Field Actions as a result of supplier's manufacturing defectives utilising the FASS process and also warranty issues identified through warranty transformation/IQM teams and those escalated by STA plant teams for resolution. The role will also require the ability to manage running change timely introduction within suppliers and validation of these changes to ensure delivery of the engineering standard and volume requirements for the customer receiving plant(s), reporting and/or escalating status as required. The role should support the STA vision of driving manufacturing excellence into the supply base of the given COC components and will require a mixture of operational, tactical and strategic approaches. Level 2 STA Target Contribution: Reduction of Line-stops and Mis-fits through improved resilience of value streams. Reduction of e-Trackers and WCPA incidents through improvements to quality control plans. Reduction of Supply Chain ‘Hold Incidents’ and ‘Hold Volume of Vehicles’. FASS resolution timing. Warranty - 0MIS and 3MIS target achievement. 100% SCR approved within 14 days. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Improve Supply Chain delivery performance to meet Scorecard targets. Improve Supply Chain warranty performance to achieve Scorecard targets. Management of major Supply Chain incidents causing immediate disruption impact to our client's plants, including FASS. Support and lead improvement plans for Category 1 – “Business Impact” Suppliers to successful conclusion. Drive and lead multi-functional improvement teams to support improving Supply Chain performance and resilience. Identify and manage improvement activity of Potential Risk Suppliers based on underlying KPI performance gaps. Support our client's nominated suppliers to achieve successful accreditation through structured improvement plans. Communication of Supplier Performance status to cross functional Stakeholders across our client's business. Knowledge, Skill and Experience: Essential: * Experience in one or more Body-in White (BIW) commodities; Cold Stamping Aluminum & Steel, Aluminum High Pressure Die Casting, Hot Stamping Boron, Forging, Aluminum Extrusion. * Valid driving license with ability to travel within the UK. This role will require more than 50% of the working week in our client's supplier manufacturing sites, mainly within the Midlands areas. * Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering gained at engineer or management level. * Previous experience and practical deployment of lean tools. * Change leadership/management skills with the ability to challenge and drive world class operational excellence. * Proven background in problem solving with ability to break down complex, multidimensional problems or process issues and drive improvement within a cross functional team, in a timely manner. * A proven leadership track record in a manufacturing or technical environment. * Broad experience of managing External Stakeholder and Supplier relationship management. * Excellent Stakeholder Management and Relationship Management skills and experience. * Able to manage and execute complex projects on time and within budget. * Excellent communication skills both formal and informal with the ability to converse at all levels of our client's organisation and at all levels with external suppliers. * Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred. Desirable: Manufacturing Engineering background. Experience working in a high-paced manufacturing operations environment. Additional Information: This role is INSIDE IR35
