What will I be doing? - Enabling the Structures Manufacturing Engineering community to progress to the next level, a requirement has emerged for a highly competent Assembly Specialist. This role will be required to: - Act as the focal point/SME on-site with regards to Assembly processes, with a need to utilise the expertise within the wider Safran group via networking with the Specialist/Expert community. - Maximise the capability of the existing production method via identification of improvement opportunities. - Work closely with the Production and Quality departments to, define, implement and maintain assembly processes used in the manufacture of large aircraft nacelle structures (Thrust Reversers and Fan Cowl Doors). - Ensure world-class, financially sustainable processes are established .These could be fully-automated, semi-automated or entirely manual assembly processes. - Effectively manage all assembly process risks associated with HSE, capability, capacity and finance. - Ensure that effective process planning is in place to support manufacture across multiple assembly lines, taking into account the different production constraints of rate and Takt time. - Define, implement and maintain capable processes, proven via the application of Statistical Process Control (SPC). There are four People Fundamentals that underpin life at Safran: * We believe in and promote diversity and inclusion as key values across our business * We develop our colleagues skills and build opportunities so you can shape our future * We create a trustworthy work place to support you, as you dare to act and innovate * We encourage collaboration and mutual support for you and your colleagues Benefits As a valued member of our team, these are just a few of the benefits you'll receive: * Half day Friday or no Fridays dependent on department * 25 days holiday plus 8 UK Bank holidays with additional holidays for service after 10 years * Up to 10% Employer Pension Contribution * Annual Leave Purchase Scheme with up to one week additional leave available to purchase * Corporate Gym Memberships at Crow Wood * Access to our employee Wellbeing package * Safran Share Purchase Scheme * Capped Hot Meals at £3.00 at on-site canteen What you need from me? - Degree educated in an appropriate subject (Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering) with at least 5 years industrial experience OR at least 10 years experience without degree education. - Proficient with CAD software packages (CATIA v5 preferable). - Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferable). - Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. - Good understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC). - Good understanding of Root Cause and Correct Action (RCCA) methods - Data driven mind set. - Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), able to communicate technical subjects in simplistic terms. - Confident but with a good level of introspection and humility. - Experience in Lean Sigma (preferable). - Understanding of, APQP and PPAP methods and documents (preferable). - Specific knowledge of aircraft nacelle components and structures (desirable). - Background in Tooling and Fixtures (building and/or inspection).
