Total Staff Services are currently recruiting for one of our clients based in Birkenhead. Due to continued growth and an influx of new customers, we're looking for a HGV Mechanic to join a local family run business. The successful candidate will be joining a small team working alongside highly skilled mechanics. You'll be required to carry out work on a variety of commercial vehicles; this will include all aspects of maintenance and repairs. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is up to date with new technologies as well as compliance. You must have a can do attitude and the ability to work as part of a team as well as alone when required. Hours of work will be Monday to Friday, (Apply online only). You will be required to participate in the call out rota in case of breakdowns. This role will be weekly pay each Friday. Weekly rate ranging from £600-£850 per week dependent on experience. Key Responsibilities: Repair and maintenance on a mixed fleet of vehicles. Maintain all documentation on the company's system. Diagnose and rectify any faults found on the vehicles. Identify required parts and order as necessary. Service and inspect all vehicles to VOSA standard. Participate in the call out rota and carry out breakdown maintenance when required. MOT preparation and presentation. Trailer ABS/EBS diagnostics and repairs. Welding fabrication. Multi brand diagnostics. Any other duties required. Essential Skills & Requirements: Fully qualified HGV Mechanic (City & Guilds or NVQ Level) IRTEC Qualified. Proven track record of working in a comparable role. Ability to strip down components and rebuild. Auto electrical, welding and tail lift maintenance experience. Knowledge and experience of inspection methods/processes to VOSA standard. Knowledge and experience of statutory vehicle inspection requirements. Must have your own tools.Desirable Skills & Requirements: Class 1 or 2 license. FLT License. Welding and hot work knowledge.
