Swift Placements are working with an automotive client based in Harrogate who are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of luxury and high-performance vehicles and an independent specialist operating for over 20 years in the Prestige retail market. Our prestige client is on the hunt for a Buyer, who will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing vehicles for the company's inventory. This role requires a deep understanding of the automotive market, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with dealerships and other automotive vendors. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring a diverse and high-quality inventory that meets the demands of the customers. The ideal candidate will either be a competent buyer with experience of sourcing cars and buying mainly from the public, or a Sales Manager/Sales Executive with the right skillset and transferrable knowledge. Responsibilities of the Buyer: Sourcing and Procurement: ·Identify potential sources for vehicle acquisition, including dealerships, auctions, and private sellers. ·Evaluate and negotiate vehicle purchase agreements, considering factors such as pricing, condition, and market demand. Market Analysis: ·Stay informed about market trends, consumer preferences, and changes in the automotive industry. ·Analyse market conditions to make informed decisions regarding inventory selection and pricing. Relationship Management: ·Build and maintain strong relationships with automotive dealerships, wholesalers, and other suppliers. ·Negotiate favourable terms and agreements with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply. Quality Control: ·The Buyer will work closely with the inspection and quality assurance teams to ensure that purchased vehicles meet established quality standards. · The Buyer will address any issues related to vehicle condition, maintenance, or documentation. Inventory Management: ·Collaborate with the inventory management team to optimise stock levels and ensure a diverse and appealing inventory. ·Monitor vehicle sales performance to adjust procurement strategies as needed. Documentation and Compliance: ·Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vehicle purchases, sales, and inventory levels. ·Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including vehicle title and registration requirements. Negotiation and Contract Management: ·The Buyer will negotiate pricing, payment terms, and other contractual details with vendors. ·The Buyer will draft and review contracts to ensure all terms and conditions are favourable to the company. Collaboration: ·Work closely with sales and marketing teams to understand customer preferences and market demands. ·Provide regular updates on inventory status and collaborate on promotional activities. Qualifications and Skills: ·Proven experience as an Automotive Buyer, preferably in the automotive sector. ·Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of the automotive market. ·Familiarity with vehicle pricing, depreciation, and market valuation. ·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. ·Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time management abilities. What’s on offer? A healthy basic of up to £30,000 (dependent on experience) plus uncapped commission with OTE of £50,000 per annum!
