M&E Global Resources is a defence contractor undertaking services on complex military equipment and aircraft for UK and US contractors. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team. The role Based in Illesheim, Germany you’ll get to work alongside our dedicated workforce on a US Military base. Prior experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic will be required, although additional training will be provided on site. This role is a fantastic chance for you to further develop your skills as a Sheet Metal Mechanic, working on a diverse range of equipment in an exciting environment. Essential duties and responsibilities To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to fulfil each of the following essential duties: * Read and analyse work requests and applicable specifications or similar work data. * Develop and draw working sketches showing view, section, or profile. * Manufacture and fabricate aircraft sheet metal parts, panels, doors, etc. from various serviced aircraft. Determine type and extent of repair or replacement required, type of material and repair methods to use. Lay out, cut form, join, assemble and install items. * Develop parts and templates from prints, drawings, or original parts to produce repair parts that are not readily available. * Form metal using cornice brake, punch press, drill press, and similar metal forming tools. * Finish and smooth edges of metal sheets after cutting and assemble component sheet metal piece with rivets, screws, nuts and bolts. Align, drill and ream material for installation of various types of riveting and taking precautions to protect dissimilar metals. * Apply necessary protective compounds, special insulating protective tape, plastic cement, fiberglass resins, etc. * Independently lay out template, transcribes information from template and manufacture double contour parts with configuration in several planes. * Assemble and fasten fabricated parts by installing bolts, rivets, screws and/or seaming. * Ensure finished aircraft parts meet quality standards for soundness, strength, appearance in accordance with specification and/or similar requirements. * Employee may be required to work inside fuel tanks (e.g., CH 47) or other confined spaces. * Follow all safety procedures and for using appropriate personal protective equipment to include checking protective devices for proper operation and maintain a safe clean work environment. Here is a general outline*: * 12 month rolling contract. * 48-hour working week Monday-Friday. * Weekly pay is extremely competitive. * Sign-On Bonus. * Potential to earn more with overtime and TDY. * Annual Completion Bonus. * Asistance with sourcing accommodation. * Holiday entitlement. * All tools will be included on this contract.
