Assistant Engineering Manager Salary: £50,000 – £54,000 (DOE) Job Type: Full-Time Location: Chichester The Role of the Assistant Engineering Manager We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant Engineering Manager / Workshop Manager to support the day-to-day running of a busy, safety-critical workshop environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining high engineering standards, supporting the Engineering Manager, and ensuring the fleet is safe, compliant, and reliable. Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Engineering Manager Support the Engineering Manager in overseeing all workshop operations Supervise and lead a team of Technicians and Engineers Manage maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect rectification Drive high standards of fleet reliability and vehicle availability Assist with audits, reporting, and performance management Promote a strong safety-first culture across the workshop What We’re Looking For from the Assistant Engineering Manager Previous experience in a Workshop Manager / Supervisor / Senior Technician role within PSV, Bus, Coach or HGV Strong knowledge of compliance and safety standards (TfL/DVSA) Proven leadership or supervisory experience Hands-on, proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, operational environment NVQ Level 3 / IRTEC (or equivalent) desirable If you’re ready to step up or continue your leadership journey as Workshop Manager, apply now via CV Library or Indeed with your updated CV
