Vehicle Technician Technical Supervisor / Coordinator

Are you experienced in vehicle workshop management, Production or Manufacturing team supervision, with a passion and understanding of the Automotive industry? We are currently seeking an experienced technical supervisor / workshop business supervisor to join our team as Vehicle and Technical Coordinator for our Vehicle Technician team on site with our OEM clients. The role will lead and supervise a team of vehicle technicians, engineers, inspectors, stores/warehousing, and administration. Based on-site at one of the UK’s most prestigious Automotive Manufacturers and other client sites. The opportunity: Reporting to the VT Business Manager, the VT Technical Coordinator/Supervisor will be responsible for the organisation of shifts and assuring a professional high standard of service is maintained. The Shift Manager will lead and coach a team of Quality Inspectors and Team Leaders, to assure the “Right First Time” delivery of the required projects. The VT Technical Coordinator will be responsible for, but not limited to: * Managing and supervising the workforce on a day-to-day basis – typically a team of up to 12 Vehicle Technicians assembly and build technicians and inspectors. * Successfully set up projects, ensuring any required Test Plans, WES (Work Instruction) and authorisation documents including all documentation. * Constructing and understanding risk assessments and all process/work instructions from and with the client. * Complete 5 Why / investigations and Fishbones etc… for full understanding of any issues/CARs including all reporting. * 5S Audits daily * Controlling the resource in the shifts to ensure maximum utilisation, with an aim to reduce any standby or inefficiency. * Schedule and monitor ongoing G & P activities during shifts, to ensure that any potential issues are identified and resolved. * Administration coordination and reporting for timesheets, productivity and managing hours via the G&P QTrak online system. * Producing reports for all staff issues, performance, KPI’s H&S information including near misses and accidents * Supporting the VT Business Manager in achievement of KPI’s, recruitment activities, inducting new starters. * Supporting the VT Business Manager with appraisals of staff, identifying and developing individuals within supervisory and inspection teams. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: Due to the responsibilities required within the position, it is important that the successful candidate has excellent team supervisory skills and experience. Team supervisory experience will ideally gained within a dealership workshop or relevant Automotive, Manufacturing or Engineering environment. Key skills: * An organised, resilient individual with the ability to think outside the box and utilise their production and quality process knowledge to promptly resolve issues. * Computer literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Able to produce reports and data for all requirements to head office on regular basis. * Excellent communication and customer service skills. * Experienced in producing and creating processes and associated documents. * Experience of problem solving and quality process auditing * Proficient in health and safety regulations and requirements. * Able to produce business quotes. * Customer facing and relationship building awareness and confidence. * Used to handling customers and managing expectations. * Potentially workshop management or controller experience. * Confident and capable communicator at all levels, verbal and written. The supervisor/coordinator must be qualified at higher City & Guilds or BTEC levels minimum in vehicle technology or repair, mechanical or electrical engineering. The role will involve some travel across a variety of client sites and requires an individual with a full driving license and their own reliable vehicle. Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time. Salary: £35,000 - £40,000.00 per annum (Depending on Experience). Working Schedule: * Weekly rotational shifts. * 42.5 hours per week. * Weekend overtime may be available depending on work requirements.
