Test Technician Team Lead Opportunity / Motorsport/ Automotive / Contract / Woking Location – Woking, Surrey Salary – Up To £45,000 Title – Test Team Lead Length – Permanent Shift – 38.5hr Week| Mon-Fri Status – Inside IR35 About TXM Recruit are looking to acquire a skilled Test Team Lead who ideally has experience working in the fast-paced engineering sector. The successful candidate will be passionate about developing a career in the automotive sector. You will be responsible for the day to day running of a small team of specialised test technicians testing and repairing to component level complex high value electronic products in small/medium volumes. The products are mainly used in motorsport and high-end automotive applications where the highest quality and reliability standards are paramount. This organisation holds over 50 years of competition in the world’s most technologically demanding sport. Overtime during certain periods of the year is essential to ensure customer deadlines are achieved. Key Responsibilities Manages team to achieve objectives and may act as technical lead on specific projects/work. Allocates resources and forecast resource and capability requirements for projects, liaising with key stakeholders. Inputs to planning and resource forecasting. Sets and organises the priorities and direction for the team. Distributes work in line with project/business requirements. Plans, schedules and inputs to delivery of multiple concurrent projects (may work alongside Project Manager) in line with business imperatives. Provides input into proposals, manages, and communicates stakeholder requirements, resolves issues and makes decisions in line with business plans; ensures own understanding and that of the team. Leads and delivers in test activities following instructions and processes to ensure technology is delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost-effective manner. Supervises and provides support to test technicians. Use of standard bench top test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, multimeters etc. Ability to fault find electronic circuits and assemblies to component level. Follows and communicates understanding of test procedures, processes, and technical documentation. Fully contributes to the process of continuous improvements and company goal of achieving zero defects in accordance with ISO9001 certified quality management systems requirements. People management responsibility, including setting clear goals, objectives and expected behaviours, agreeing development plans and regularly reviewing performance. Develops team both technically and in relation to their performance in the team, regularly reviews progress and undertakes performance reviews. Qualifications & Experience Previous experience leading a team of technicians. Be a good communicator with the ability to capture information quickly and accurately. Have good interpersonal skills and able to engage with a broad range of external customers and internal stakeholders. Have a good understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems. PC literate and proficient in Microsoft Office tools, to formalise concise but precise reports at the highest standard of presentation. Team work driven, and able to cope with tight deadlines under pressure. General understanding of industry standards and regulations to ensure guidelines are followed and machinery and equipment are operated safety. Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job expertise. Good attention to detail to allow you to maintain or exceed high levels of production/test standards and efficiency. Experience in customer facing roles, demonstrating an ability to represent the company during high-paced development.
