Test Rig Engineer required for fast growing progressive and successful international Aerospace Manufacturer. Job Title: Test Rig Engineer (Permanent) Location: Cheltenham & occasional project works at other UK based sites Salary: £38000 per annum plus benefits Hours of Work: Monday to Friday days, early finish Friday The Test Engineer will be expected to interpret higher level design requirements to generate test equipment and test set-up requirements, with a view to performing test equipment and test set-up design, procurement, fabrication and assembly of Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed systems, GSE and EGSE will be a key responsibility of this role. General & Technical Tasks * Review and interpret higher level requirements (e.g. Test Plan and relevant sections of a higher level specification such as propulsion system specification) * Generate Compliance Matrix/Design Verification Compliance Matrix against the test plan and relevant sections of higher level specification * Develop an extensive knowledge of rocket engines and thrusters, fluidic control systems and space standard engineering * Provide inputs/feedback into the Test Plan * Generate test equipment/test setup requirements * Perform test equipment/test setup requirements design including key component identification. This could include Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed systems, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) design and Electrical Ground Support Equipment Design (EGSE) including any software required * Procure, fabricate and assemble Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed systems, GSE and EGSE * Generate Test Site Propellant and Pressurant feed system, GSE and EGSE setup & checkout procedures and maintenance plans * Generate Test Procedures * Perform HAZOPs and Risk Assessments * Carry out extensive testing activities in support of ongoing programs * Collation of test results and data and delivery to design engineering * Provide inputs to Test Reports * NCR/RFD/RFW generation and support * Support customer interaction (regular meetings, TRRs, TRBs, etc.) Attributes * Excellent understanding of chemical rocket engineering * Good understating of mechanical engineering and some basic electrical engineering * Prior spacecraft chemical propulsion experience (while useful) is not essential * Responsible approach to risk, works diligently, accepts responsibility for managing their own workload and stays motivated and committed when facing challenges * Demonstrates attention to detail and seeks opportunities to improve quality, speed and efficiency * Committed to continuous personal improvement, adapts to different situations, environments or technologies and has a positive attitude to feedback and advice * Is present in the workplace at the required times, takes responsibility for the duties assigned to the role. Approaches difficult or challenging problems with enthusiasm, shows initiative and supports the success of the team/organisation * Able to provide line management support to Test Technician(s) * Works to understand stakeholder requirements and perspectives, and can present work positively and with confidence * Ideally qualified with BSc degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering * Mechanical fitter/practical hands-on engineering skills preferably gained from within an engineering related organisation Interested?
