SYSTEMS ENGINEERS x3 – CONTRACTS 12 MONTHS – BROAD OAK Hampshire PAY £68.55 UMBRELLA PH You will be developing the Mimesis simulation product, which provides a battlespace simulation of the real-world environments that BAE Systems maritime, air and land products operate in, and which digitally replicates these products interacting operational capabilities. You will be involved in the design and development of software intensive simulation and training systems, typically involving complex integration of bespoke software and COTS platforms. You will be applying the principles of Systems Engineering across the entire engineering development lifecycle. AT THE COAL FACE / TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES Apply the Systems Engineering principles of ISO 15288 to the design and build of systems through the entire engineering lifecycle from requirement definition to system integration and customer acceptance into system support and disposal. Discern and decompose requirements to system and sub-system level and manage these in an approved toolset such as IBM DOORS Next. Undertake system design decomposition and architectural modelling to subsystem level, including associated external and internal interface definition, and manage architectural models in an approved toolset such as CATIA Magic (Cameo). Undertake system integration, test planning and execution. Contribute to definition of acceptance strategies in order to verify requirement compliance at specific levels of system design, supporting production of customer acceptance evidence. Undertake Training Systems equipment design, network design and software design (noting Training Systems are primarily software intensive systems targeted to integrated Commercial off the shelf -COTS platforms), to include overall performance prediction and design of installations, to meet customer requirements within the budget available. PROVEN ABILITY / WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU Expertise in Systems Engineering and Software integration lifecycle principles (ISO 15288 and 12207). Requirements management (e.g. IBM DOORS Next) and configuration management. Proven ability in working with large scale complex system designs. Proven ability in multiple phases of an engineering lifecycle and good knowledge of lifecycle models (e.g. Waterfall, Agile) and associated tools (e.g. JIRA). Proven ability in using a high-level design methodology (e.g. UAF, NAF, TOGAF, SysML, UML) (DESI). Mathematical simulation tools/languages (e.g. Mathworks MATLAB, Simulink, Pearl, Python, MathCAD) (DESI). Seasoned in the application of systems engineering for software-based products.
