Position: Test Systems Engineer (x2) Contract: Full Time, Permanent Location: Cannock, Staffordshire Salary: up to £70K DOE Industry: Automotive Wentworth James Group has engaged with a key client a Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer based in Staffordshire who are currently hiring for 2, Test Systems Engineer’s on a permanent basis. Ideally as a Systems Test Engineer, you will have a background of Testing & Testing Equipment within Powertrain, Engine, Driveline & Transmission solutions. Job Brief The key function of this role is to support the Global Test Engineer in the implementation and maintenance of test equipment. This person must have working knowledge LabVIEW and Teststand software and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulics systems. This role is key to the success of the global R&D team, and the role holder will be expected to support the global team face to face and virtually, depending on the nature of the projects. The role may involve up to 30% of time travelling to support current and any new sites, including our sites in US, Europe and China. Therefore, a willingness and ability to travel and obtain suitable visas is essential. Approximately 70% will support the operations in the Midlands. Key Accountabilities of role * Implementation, and maintenance of inhouse software and test programs * Assist test equipment design, build, debug, and commissioning. * Assist in equipment troubleshooting to reduce downtime and improve FTT. * Improve machine cycle times and efficiency. * Work in compliance to all statutory and company safety and quality regulations. * Creating and updating technical documents and schematics. Requirements, experience, and education * Experience in designing test equipment. Automotive powertrain (engine, transmission, or driveline) is a must. * Experience with supporting plant operations in maintaining test equipment. * A working level of experience with LabVIEW/Teststand is essential. * Familiarity with LabVIEW and Teststand architecture * Some experience of writing or modifying test software and automated tests * Experience using version control tools preferable, but not essential. * Experience with electrical drawing software preferable. * A good understanding of automotive networks (in particular CAN(-FD), LIN, Ethernet, Flexray is preferred but training will be given. * Some understanding of Python - for developing scripts would be preferred. * Some experience with electrical, electronic and data acquisition systems * The role also requires a good understanding of automotive communication network such as CAN, LIN and Flexray. * The role also requires a knowledge of automotive diagnostic. * The candidate should have a knowledge of electronics schematics and PCB design
