We are currently partnered with a global leader in aerospace technology, renowned for its excellence in propulsion systems. They are focused on the development of electrical propulsion, power generation, and energy storage technologies; catering to the evolving demands of sustainable aviation. As part of a major R&D programme, they are currently seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join the team on a 12 month contract basis. As a Safety & Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of cutting-edge electrical products and systems. You will support the development of complex systems, facilitating their operation under challenging conditions. Key Responsibilities: Conduct safety and reliability assessments within an aerospace product development environment. Understand degradation and failure mechanisms, assess associated risks, and mitigate them effectively. Collaborate with design, system, service, and airworthiness engineers to ensure compliance with safety and reliability standards. Define functional safety requirements based on thorough hazard analyses and maintain fault tree analyses. Supervise and coach various forms of risk assessments, including Particular Risks Analysis (PRA) and Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA). Support the design and system teams in part classification rating. Qualifications: Degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, aerospace, natural science, or equivalent. Industry experience in hazard assessment, fault tree analysis, and FMECAs. Proficiency in statistics, probability, and reliability prediction. Familiarity with aerospace standards such as ARP4761 and ARP4754A. Technical expertise in safety and reliability engineering tools, preferably ITEM toolkit. Experience in requirement engineering and related tools. Ideally, familiarity with hybrid-electric propulsion systems. This is a 12 month contract which sits firmly inside IR35. You will need to be payrolled through an Umbrella company. There are competitive rates on offer from £65-80ph for 37 hour weeks. You will need to complete a BPSS check before onboarding onto the project. This is a hybrid remote role with a minimum expectation of 3 days a week spent on site in Bristol.
