Morson are excited to be looking for a Sub-Contract Manager to join our Aerospace & Defence client based in Leicester.  They are offering competitive salary and benefits package including hybrid working and a 9 day fortnight (every other Friday off!). As Sub-Contract Manager you will be responsible for: Full management lifecycle of sub-contracted suppliers within company projects (e.g., development, bid, contract & execution) Collaborating on opportunities to develop and deliver complex, high risk, high value equipment and/or services. The Role The Sub-Contract Manager will require a demonstrated ability to manage internal and external relationships with experience of working cross functionally, in order to influence a breadth of business decisions. You will need to demonstrate effective subcontract management by developing robust contracts which address lifecycle factors, whilst fostering and maintaining key supplier relationships, delivering on short term demands and long-term business objectives. Duties and Tasks Co-ordinate and lead sub-contract reviews including identification and mobilisation of internal support required to execute sub-contracts from other teams. Drive and lead strategies to influence business decisions throughout the programme life cycle. Ensure appropriate Supplier Relationship Management and Performance Management techniques are employed with Supplier(s) to improve performance, mitigate risk and capture innovation from Supplier(s). Ensure continuous monitoring and action against risks, opportunities (including cost savings) through execution of such complex sub-contracts. Manage and be accountable for, the overall performance and compliance of key Supplier(s). Manage the schedule and performance of Supplier(s), ensuring rigorous adherence to commercial, quality and technical governance. Monitor the performance of Supplier(s) and update weekly progress reviews including engagement with other key supply chain stakeholders such as the Purchasing Manager, Project Controllers, Programme Managers and Quality Engineers as appropriate. Prepare complex contract documentation using standard and non-standard formats Recognise and identify sub-contract complications as they develop and manage the timely resolution under changing provisions where possible, obtaining legal or subject matter expertise where necessary. Recognise and identify resolutions for commercial issues with appropriate communication and buy-in from relevant internal and external stakeholders Report monthly measurements of Supplier(s) metrics and enforcement of contractual agreements where Key Performance Indicators are not being met. Support negotiation of sub-contracts, including appropriate customer flow down. Person Specification The Sub-Contract Manager will develop and manage effective relationships across the breadth of the company and its customers and have the confidence to technically lead cross discipline project teams. The successful candidate will be expected to bring maturity and credibility when engaging with customers, senior managers and stakeholders. We expect the incoming Sub-Contract Manager to be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities: Skills: Ability to work within defined compliance and processing structures Good business and commercial awareness Proficient with MS Office Suite Possess excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills with experience building and managing strong, long-lasting relationships across both internal and external stakeholders, partners and suppliers. Strong attention to detail and ability to work to high levels of accuracy Strong organisational skills Knowledge: Demonstratable experience working within a complex, multinational, multi-site organisation – preferably within the aerospace & defence sector or other comparable industries Proven experience in a mid-level supply chain or similar role, with a record of success Preferable understanding and practical experience of negotiating UK MoD Defcons Strong technical awareness of the end-to-end supply chain activities (including experience of project management), with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and assess opportunities.
