Our client in the automotive OEM sector is seeking a dedicated SQA Engineer (NPI) to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis. This role is pivotal for ensuring the quality of purchased parts, from concept to series production, for assigned suppliers and projects. You will work closely with procurement, design, and system engineers to maintain high standards, travel within the UK and overseas, and engage in proactive and reactive improvement activities. Key Responsibilities Auditing suppliers and contributing to the nomination process. Managing Supplier Quality Assurance activities including APQP, PPAP, and surveillance visits leading to launch. Creating and cascading customer quality requirements to the supply chain. Generating goods receiving inspection documents for pre-production and production phases. Series process and part approval at product launch. Working closely with procurement, design, and system engineers to achieve cost-effective and fit-for-purpose parts. Engaging in supplier improvement activities, including problem resolution of parts quality issues using 8D and other automotive industry tools. Contributing to the parts quality aspects of product and process changes. Actively participating in continuous improvement by developing and introducing new quality-focused processes and procedures. Job Requirements Essential: Experience in NPI or Supplier Quality Assurance, preferably within the automotive sector. Strong understanding of APQP/PPAP. Experience with various manufacturing processes and components (casting, machining, moulding, assembly, fabrications). Understanding of geometric design and tolerancing. Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with quality systems, tools, and techniques. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating self-motivation and effective communication skills. Flexibility to travel regularly to suppliers and customers both domestically and internationally. Engineering degree or other relevant engineering qualifications or equivalent experience.Preferred: Knowledge of automotive technology and product development. Training in ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 auditing. Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma. High integrity and ethical values in dealings with clients, suppliers, and colleagues.
