This role requires experience of the test and validation of embedded software within an engineering manufacturing environment. Candidates from an IT, Web, Finance analyst or test background will not be considered. * This software test position exists within a machinery manufacturing company * It involves the development of test specifications for embedded software, automated test scripts (e.g. Python), validation & verification and SiL and HiL testing * It may require the development of plant models in Matlab / Simulink * You will be testing embedded software for off-highway machine systems * Requires formal embedded software test experience gained within a regulated engineering and manufacturing software development environment More: Software Test Engineer The primary responsibility of this role is testing embedded software for all internal machine systems. This may include the development of test specifications, creation of test harnesses, executions of tests and analysis of results. Experience of SiL and HiL is required. Typical Responsibilities - Software Test Engineer * Writing test specifications from engineering machinery systems and embedded software requirements * Developing plant models / test harnesses in MATLAB and Simulink, Python etc, to test requirements * Use of HiL systems and automated test processes * Developing unit test harnesses for software components * Hands on software testing using Vector/CAN diagnostic tools * Analyse and report test results and provide suitable solutions to any embedded software issues * Experience with Vector AUTOSAR / CAN diagnostics and ISO 26262 compliant test processes would be great Skills / Knowledge Required: Software Test Engineer * A degree or higher degree in a relevant engineering subject (e.g., computer science, software engineering, electronics engineering) * Proven experience of test development in a relevant industry (ideally automotive) otherwise Aerospace / Avionics, Rail, Industrial Control etc using a V-model verification and validation process * Knowledge of Hardware in the Loop environments (HIL) – dSpace or similar * Software test of high reliability / safety critical or highly regulated engineering software * Development of plant models using Matlab / Simulink * Experience of the development of automated test scripts (use of Python or similar) * Familiarity with process-driven development, ideally ISO 26262 would be great. * Experience of Embedded C software development would be great.
