Role: Senior Sales Engineer Location: Hertfordshire    Type: Permanent | Full time  Structure: 2 - 3 days onsite a week Company: IT Consultancy  Salary: Open at this point between £70,000 - £80,000 We are supporting a tight knit data focused IT consultancy who has a new opening for a Senior Sales Engineer. The Sales Engineering Unit represents a key element of organisation aligning closely with the sales team and the primary focus of the role is to drive organic growth in their commercial and enterprise services by staying close to customers, ensuring the services are market-leading and providing expert pre-sales support to close existing and net new logo business.  The Senior Sales Engineer role combines technical Pre-Sales capability with solution ownership and management. The role is intended to take opportunities anywhere from initial customer engagement through to deal closure, as a team player to support larger complex opportunities to generate positive sales outcomes for the business. Responsibilities for a Senor Sales Engineer:  Provide sales engagements with subject matter expertise, driving both existing and net new business as per targets. Provide guidance and lead on data protection/DR proposition, capabilities, and processes. Guide customers on the current data protection market landscape including best practices and product benefits. Articulate and provide guidance on the company's competitive edge and service offerings. Assist in identification and close of up-sell and cross sell opportunities. Perform workshop sessions for customers and colleagues on proposition and capabilities. Lead external customer facing demos of vendor products and managed services. Establish and manage new senior technical level contacts with customers. Provide feedback/peer review on designs produced by colleagues. To provide mentoring and coaching to other Sales Engineers / Account Managers to enhance their knowledge of processes and methodology. To support demand-generating marketing activities. To support re-contracting and transforming customer solutions to minimise risk of customer churn. To support, retain and grow selected Accounts. To provide Specialist product knowledge to the wider community. Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience with a proven track record of consulting, design and delivery of large-scale enterprise solutions Confidently able to present complex technical information to a non-technical audience at C-level Confidently able to communicate with technical peers and discuss technical information at a detailed level. Methodical in approach with sound analytical and problem-solving skills, and keen attention to detail. In-depth experience within traditional technical on-prem and hosted architecture, as well as growing hybrid and pure cloud solutions. Understands Commercial Models and has ability to use innovation and creativity to shape winning deals. Experience of working on complex sales engagements in a consultative manner. Responsible and takes initiative for their own personal development as well as being a strong team player. Previous experience with delivering technical elements of solution proposals including RFPs and RFIs.  Previous experience selling traditional hosting and datacentre services. Any background in cyber/information security would be beneficial.
