Job Title: Senior Metrology Engineer Reports to: Quality Manager Contractual Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday (early finish Friday) Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced Senior Metrology Engineer to lead a team responsible for maintaining and optimizing inspection processes and equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure all work is completed efficiently and meets internal and customer requirements, contributing to a fast-moving manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the metrology team, ensuring timely completion of tasks. Optimise the use of all inspection equipment for tasks at hand. Identify and address non-conformities in products or processes, and recommend improvement ideas. Establish effective CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programs that are aligned with customer or internal requirements. Support dimensional problem resolution in collaboration with quality, engineering, and production teams. Maintain and ensure serviceability of all inspection equipment and facilities. Ensure optimum use of resources and facilities to meet departmental workload. Respond quickly to quality concerns that could affect customer lines. Provide training and set standards for personnel regarding metrology requirements. Evaluate CAD models and drawings to support dimensional assessments. Skills and Experience Required: Completed a recognised apprenticeship in Engineering/Manufacturing, ideally with an ONC-level qualification. Proven metrology experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, particularly in quality functions. Strong working knowledge of CMM and scanning techniques, with the ability to supervise a team. Hands-on experience with CMM programming using PC-Dmis, manual calibration equipment, and CAD software. Exceptional problem-solving and fault-finding abilities in a demanding manufacturing environment. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills. Ability to understand and evaluate the latest metrology equipment and provide sound advice on related issues.
