The Opportunity Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire is actively seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on VCATS (Vehicle Configuration & Test Systems) on a permanent basis. On offer to the successful applicant is a negotiable, albeit based on relevant experience, basic salary together with a full comprehensive benefits package. As part of a team of Manufacturing Engineers responsible for the continuous improvement of the Assembly facility, you will be responsible for the delivery of vehicle programmes from original concept and design, through to manufacturing feasibility and into current production. You will need experience of Facility & Tooling requirements, Standardised Process Documentation, PFMEA & Process Control Plans, Layout Planning and Statistical Problem Resolution. It will be your job to ensure that the highest quality build standards are achieved whilst ensuring the health & safety of technicians is never compromised and as part of a team of engineers be responsible for the Continuous Improvement of the assembly facility delivering robust process and quality improvements. Your duties and responsibilities will be: To facilitate and participate in improvement projects and value stream groups involving multiple stakeholders across the business functions. Attendance in various shopfloor performance reviews to build loss/defect intelligence and set priorities. Taking ownership of focused improvement process – driving down losses in the plant. Data analysis and planning of key improvements for critical measures such as build efficiency, waste, and process risk optimisation. Identification and support of CI activities that will create value, leading focused improvement initiatives, six sigma projects and FMEA risk reduction activities. The stabilisation and standardisation of production processes via definition of trigger levels for escalation in daily plant performance meetings. Supporting process owners to implement new tools and improvement projects. Verify effectiveness of new tools and sustained application in process. Data collection. Creating, identifying, and implementing best practices. Leadership and mentorship of others in application of process and procedures supporting standardised workflows.You will have the following qualifications & experience: Should ideally have an ONC minimum qualification, better still be HNC / Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing or similar, although plenty of equivalent and relevant experience will also be considered.  You should be a highly experienced Manufacturing Engineer within the Automotive industry, with strong exposure to working on VCATS, current and advanced manufacturing, with a good understanding of problem resolution and an ability to interrogate and interpret data – this is essential! A willingness to adopt new ideas with an open mind to low volume constraints is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed as is a systemic problem solver able to implement solutions, undertake root cause analysis & manage change. You will be able to demonstrate competence of project delivery through application of continuous improvement practices. You will need excellent communication skills to present effective & persuasive arguments /presentations on complex topics. Project management capability is needed. You should have a good level of technical knowledge regarding Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies. Positive and proactive approach to challenges and change management. You will be confident with the ability to influence.It’s great if you also have the following: Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcentre or NX would be advantageous. Autocad layout drawing, 3D printing /model creation, data manipulation and BOM management are all beneficial skillsets within the team if you have these experiences. Six sigma, Kaizen, FMEA, Poke Yoke experience would be advantageous but not essential.This position is available with immediate effect.
