Our global motorcycle manufacturing client is urgently looking to fill the following role: Senior Design Engineer - Motorcycle Accessories - Market Salary + Benefits - Leicestershire Role context and purpose: As a Senior Design Engineer for Genuine Motorcycle Accessories (GMA) your role will involve working with cross-functional teams in Industrial Design, Strategic Sourcing, Quality Assurance and OE Product Development. At the outset you will be exposed to the design of retail customer facing products at various points in their product life cycle. Key responsibilities: - Mutually agreed project timing plan deadlines - Successful drawing release completion - Design systems and components for new and updated accessory projects, considering function, cost, manufacture, assembly and quality - Produce good quality 3D CAD models using Creo - Produce good quality 2D engineering drawings, to ASME Y14.5 - Follow and help maintain design, operational and quality procedures - Produce supporting documentation for designs, as required and present these designs in cross functional team reviews. - Design components and systems to comply with regulatory requirements & internal test procedures where needed - Liaise with internal departments such as, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality and Assembly. - Liaise with outside suppliers - Manage their own time and workload effectively - Create and manage timing plans for their areas of responsibility - To work with CAD Designers or contractors allocated to help with creating CAD models - Support testing department with the fixturing & testing of components & motorcycles Skills / Experience Required: - Bachelor degree (minimum 2:1) with proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Pro-engineer / CREO - Minimum 3 years experience designing for manufacture and showing a Good knowledge of processes, such as castings, forgings, sheet metal and injection mouldings. - Experience of creating and releasing 2D technical drawings to ASME Y14.5-2009 - Understanding of geometric tolerances on 2D drawings, to ASME Y14.5-2009 - Good understanding of motorcycle chassis layout and construction. - Practical experience of vehicle maintenance and preparation is advantageous. - Experience supporting and mentoring junior team members would be advantageous.
