Position: Senior Controls Engineer Salary: Excellent salary + pension + healthcare + annual bonus + EV car scheme + other benefits Type: Permanent Location: Midlands / Hybrid This established engineering consultancy provides development and engineering of electric propulsion and powertrain systems for clients around the world in multiple sectors. Due to ongoing growth, they now require a Senior Controls Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will have a positive, innovative approach to solving complex engineering problems. As a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for providing project leadership to successfully deliver your own projects, as well as supporting those of others. Applying technical knowledge and experience to interesting and challenging projects for a wide variety of customers, markets and sectors. Supporting engineers, ensuring they are developing skills and maintaining relationships with customers. Senior Controls Engineer Key responsibilities * Development of embedded control systems and dynamic models in MATLAB / Simulink, including requirements capture, design and verification * Specify and prepare sensors, actuators, instrumentation, wiring and data logging requirements * Debugging of software on real time controllers * Undertake Project Lead role; leading a small/medium project team to deliver a successful project outcome; from both a technical and commercial perspective * Measure electronic/electrical signals using of oscilloscopes and multimeters * Supervise technicians with build, test and measurement procedures and supporting documentation * Support control testing and data analysis activities * Plan, support and undertake functional vehicle development * Undertake data logging and calibration in rigs/vehicles using CANape or INCA * Identify problems in a timely manner and ensure the best engineering solutions are applied * Present and communicate technical and commercial information, clearly and concisely, both internally and to customers * Generate and maintain relationships with customers at an appropriate level * Support the business development team in the creation of technical project proposals and resourcing estimates * Contribute to and deliver technical conference and white papers Experience required * Degree educated in mechanical, electrical, electronic or control system engineering or equivalent demonstrable experience in control systems development in automotive including algorithm design * An aptitude for solving engineering problems and experience in finding supporting resources * Experience in key software tools within automotive engineering (Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, CANape) * Able to follow key engineering processes and procedures * High level of numeracy, an ability to apply analytical approaches and strong problem-solving skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills This is a truly exciting time to join a consultancy who have established relationships with many OEMs/tier 1 suppliers and are developing propulsion systems with the latest technologies.
