URGENT CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY - Research Engineer / Advanced Research Engineer (Composites - AFP/ATL) | Bristol | Inside IR35 We are urgently seeking an experienced Research Engineer / Advanced Research Engineer to join a cutting-edge composites team in Bristol on a 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension to 9-12 months. 📌 Location: On-site, Bristol 💼 Contract Type: Inside IR35 💲 Rate: £60-£68/hr Umbrella (£44-£50/hr PAYE) 🕒 Start Date: ASAP - Immediate requirement 🔧 Key Responsibilities: You'll be part of an innovative R&D team working on advanced composite manufacturing technologies, with a specific focus on automated fibre placement (AFP) and automated tape layup (ATL). ✅ Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience programming AFP/ATL systems for composite part production Proficiency with CAM and simulation software, ideally: CATIA V5/V6 CADFiber CATFiber Vericut Composites Strong understanding of composite materials, fibre paths, plybooks, and defect mitigation Solid knowledge of automated layup constraints and manufacturing best practices A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for solving complex engineering problems This is a hands-on role for someone who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced R&D environment.
