Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire, are actively seeking an experienced Prototype BIW Technician to join their highly successful team with immediate effect on a Contract basis (Inside IR35). On offer to the successful candidate is a competitive hourly rate, together with overtime available and payable at an enhanced rate. As the Prototype BIW Technician, you will be required to manufacture prototype parts using Additive Manufacturing, Vac Casting and Composite Laminating. Your duties and responsibilities will be: Follow H&S guidelines. Preparation of composite tooling. Support with the development of new in-house manufacturing methods. Metalwork and fabrication experience. Rework of parts including trimming, drilling and finishing. Machining – CNC machine operation, manual machining and turning. Support with body structure assembly (tubs) where required. Support with reworks and PWR ‘Prototype work requests’ as required.You will have the following qualifications & experience: Should ideally have a practical level qualification – e.g. an NVQ, apprenticeship in manufacturing, engineering, mechanical, but plenty of relevant experience will be considered. Should be an experienced Prototype BIW Technician with a good understanding and experience of working on Tubs, your knowledge gained in this from an Automotive and/or Motorsport manufacturing environment. We also need strong Mechanical/Fabrication skills. You should have previous experience in Composite Laminating and/or Vac Casting. You will have the ability to perform fine detail work and detailed inspection. You will be experienced with hand tools and computer literate. Should have the ability to read engineering drawings with skills in failure investigations and problem solving. Some experience with milling machines and lathes would be useful.It’s great if you also have the following: 3D printing/additive manufacturing experience would be a bonus, but isn’t essential, together with exposure to storage, handling and stock control of consumables. CMM machine operation experience would be an advantage.This position is available with immediate effect.
