Purpose: Ensure that the Business Management MRP/ERP System is up-to-date and achievable to support on-time delivery to our customers.   At times you may have to provide cover or supervision for other roles within the purchasing & planning team. Key Duties: Supervise and manage the day to day activities of the planning team – offering help and guidance when required. Ensuring all members of the team understand the business objective and are sufficiently trained to carry out their roles. Coordinating and monitoring the efficient movement of materials through the production cycle. Expedite and schedule works orders where necessary to ensure customers orders are delivered to plan. Working with supply/demand output to ensure that work orders and works order dates are raised in line with MRP demand. Communicating with project management and senior management to ensure that customer orders are on schedule to the required dates, including assisting with expediting or delaying shipments to meet production schedules. Working closely with the purchasing team to ensure any changes to deliveries are communicated into the plan, highlighting any issues or concerns with the Materials Manager and the relevant Project Managers. Attend production meetings and contribute in a positive and productive manner to meet business objectives. Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement. Occasionally meet or discuss with customers to determine schedules to reflect internal capabilities and customer needs. Working in line with the Company’s Health and Safety Policies and Environmental Policies and Procedures. Knowledge, Skills Training & Experience: Demonstrated experience of planning tools i.e. ERP/MRP in a manufacturing environment. Highly motivated, team player with a proactive approach to changing workload demands in an operational environment. Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and be able to offer guidance and assistance to others when required. Excellent personal organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate and meet deadlines effectively. The ability to identify where information is limited and source further information or escalate as needed. The ability to draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations. Excellent communication and computer literacy skills, Microsoft Office, Excel. A good working knowledge of engineering environments and experience in a manufacturing facility. A good working knowledge of engineering specifications and drawings. Commercial awareness - budget and contract appreciation. Strong negotiation, exchange of ideas, interpersonal and influencing skills
