Procurement Specialist (Hybrid) Circa £40-47k DOE Extensive Benefits to include industry leading pension + healthcare plan + bonus scheme + 5 weeks paid holiday + much more Do you have a strong engineering/manufacturing/production background within a direct sourcing/procurement role? Syntech Recruitment, a trusted partner to some of the world's top engineering companies, is collaborating with a fantastic business to find an exceptional Procurement Specialist. You will be based around the Chalfont, Bucks area and be required to travel into the office 2 or 3 times per week (after an initial training period of up to 3 months). This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional with experience in engineering and manufacturing to play a strategic role in securing essential products and services. You'll be responsible for sourcing and managing these procurements to ensure they effectively support the company's ambitious manufacturing and development goals. Must-Have Skills and Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in a direct sourcing/procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Proven track record of negotiating new supplier contracts, securing favourable pricing and terms. Extensive experience in sourcing parts and materials, with a strong understanding of technical specifications and quality control procedures. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Additional Desirable Skills: Knowledge of export/import requirements. Experience with SAP or similar MRP/ERP systems. Key Responsibilities: Supplier Relationship Management Act as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers, fostering strong and collaborative relationships. Manage supplier performance against agreed metrics and proactively identify and mitigate potential risks. Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing to guarantee product quality meets established standards. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Identification Identify and engage new suppliers through various methods (tendering, RFI/RFQ). Partner with Commodity Managers to research and evaluate potential new suppliers based on technical capabilities, quality standards, and cost competitiveness. Support the development of Statements of Work for new parts and equipment. Procurement Execution & Risk Management Prepare and authorise purchase requisitions following standard procedures. Identify and manage risks associated with suppliers, such as material obsolescence or ownership changes. Support the team in developing risk mitigation strategies and corrective action plans. Data Management & Reporting Oversee supplier requisition release reports, invoicing status, and supplier data. Generate and maintain supplier data in relevant systems (cost, scheduling lead times, etc.) to support financial and governance processes. Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Participate in cross-functional improvement projects for the department and wider organization. Analyse data to support process management, investigate trends, and identify bottlenecks. Monitor the external environment, staying updated on competitor and supplier capabilities. Collaborate with internal teams (manufacturing, production control, shipping) to resolve supply chain issues and ensure on-time deliveries. Perform other duties as assigned.
