Procurement Manager Salary: £45K-£55K Location: Based close to Didcot, Oxfordshire Job Type: Full-Time Here at Syntech Recruitment, we are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Procurement Manager to join our our client's innovative Design and Manufacturing business based close to Didcot, Oxfordshire. Job Description Management of our supplier chain and adherence to supplier quality principles as per ISO 9001. Procurement of parts, goods, materials, services to ensure our delivery of hardware. Procurement Manager Responsibilities * Meeting and building relationships with customers, prospects and collaborative partners * Responsible for our procurement, incoming deliveries and storage of our material, parts, etc. and outgoing deliveries of test articles, semi-finished or finished goods. * Leadership of Technical Buyer and Storesperson * Manage our Approved Supplier List including addition and removal of suppliers in collaboration with Product Assurance function. Ensure list is up to date, has all required supplier information and supplier quality and schedule adherence is recorded and updated on a regular basis. * Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications. Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships. * In collaboration with our Storesperson and Accounts, contact suppliers to resolve quality, delivery, and invoice issues in a timely manner. Communicate non-conformances to suppliers and establish corrective plans and timelines. * Conduct research for new suppliers. Identify sufficient alternative suppliers for all procurement types, to avoid single point failures and bottlenecks. * Distribute supplier workload evenly to meet to delivery deadlines across all projects. * Auditing of suppliers for defining and maintain quality protocols described by our company, as needed. * Lead on purchasing composites and machined parts, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets. Prepare, raise and send purchase orders. * Work with suppliers to establish acceptable quality routines in accordance with our company and Space industry quality requirements. * Work with suppliers to define pre-defined scheduled dates for machining to ensure deliveries to meet project delivery dates. * Act as an interface between suppliers and other internal departments on purchases, quotes, and planning for procurement activities on projects. * Ensure compliance to company QMS, and purchasing policies and procedures are kept. * File and maintain up to date procurement documentation (e.g. project procurement sheets, purchase requisitions, purchase orders) * Monitor and advise on any supplier issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation. * To complete any other tasks as commensurate with the level and nature of the post as delegated by the (line manager). Qualifications, Skills & Experience Essential * A mechanical engineering discipline with relevant experience. * Demonstrative procurement experience * Team leadership experience * Technical knowledge of machine components. * Supplier auditing experience and awareness of ISO 9001 supplier management requirements * Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of detailed drawings, surface finishes, tolerances, materials etc. * Excellent communication and negotiation skills - listening and adapting communication strategy to suit * Proficient with MS Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel. * Excellent team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels * Proactive and innovative approach to problem solving presenting findings and solutions * Ability to plan and organise workload across multiple projects ensuring deadlines are met * Quality mindset with excellent attention to detail * Positive attitude to problem solving with a creative can do approach Desirable * Previous Space industry experience * Knowledge of ECSS standards for the space sector * Deployable structure experience (Space industry) * Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or studying towards the qualification How to Apply If you think you have the skills necessary to be a success in this role, please click apply.
