Principal Cost Project Engineer - 0705 Location - Cranfield To start ASAP - 12 month contract Rate: - £30.78/hr PAYE (Inside IR35)        The role - Quote analysis – Piece Cost & Vendor Tooling (not just technical, but interrogation of commercial factors i.e overheads, plant layout, global economics etc.) Management of Tier 1 supplier through regular meetings to ensure transparent, and optimized quotations. Fast paced reporting to Senior Management (i.e. quote vs budget – gap analysis via skyline / graphical formats) Supporting the wider team with ‘Engineering estimates’ for component piece cost and vendor tooling Maintenance of cost databases Involvement in Sourcing phase inc. RFQ creation Ensuring the teams commodity budgets are realistic. Generation of cost reduction ideas As you would expect, being a global organization, working cross functionally across the business (inc. R&D, Product Planning & Market Intelligence) will be an essential part of the role. Experience required - A deep understanding of global Automotive supply chains and the cost driving factor within. Ideally someone with an understanding of Interior commodities and technologies i.e plastics, stampings, jigs, decoration (paint/IMD), fabrics etc. Someone who has ideally had experience of managing cost with a Tier 1. Interrogation of CAD to confirm basic attributes i.e dimensions, volumes, surface area etc. Experience of working at a Tier 1 in a customer interfacing role. The Role is a hybrid – Design experience- 20% Project experience – 50%- looking at experience in supplier management.
