Position: Powertrain Senior Design Consultant Sector : Body &Chassis Sector Location: Woking, Surrey Position Type: Contract Outside IR35 I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Luxury Automotive Manufacturer based in Surrey who are seeking a Powertrain Senior Design Consultant to join their team. Job Description As Powertrain Senior Design Consultant your main responsibilities are: Reporting to the Lead Principal Engineer and working with the Technical Program Manager on engine programs. Working alongside Project Engineers in a small team, to be responsible for the delivery of engine systems and components into small volume high performance specialist vehicle programs. New concept layouts for components of on-vehicle engine systems and vehicle integration & package schemes leading to detailed designs for prototype and production release and manufacture. Working with suppliers to ensure components and systems meet technical and package targets and to deliver detailed designs on time to predetermined quality, cost and weight targets and within DFM requirements. Create and update DFMEA and Technical Specifications Work with the other designers, lead engineers and the component supplier to achieve efficient, innovative and lightweight designs. Ensures the components interface seamlessly to the wider car including structural interfaces, cooling systems, low and high voltage electrical systems and control systems. Support powertrain component & vehicle development activities, manufacture and launch planning. Qualifications / Skills required CATIA V5 / V6 2D/3D skills with GD&T application experience. A high level of technical knowledge & experience of Powertrain component & system design, packaging, engine test & production. Educated to degree level in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
