Are you an experienced Mechanical Development Engineer who looks after the end to end design and development process with a strong technical background? We have an exciting opportunity to work for one of our Leading Automotive Engineering Client with offices across the UK. Job Title: Mechanical Development Engineer Location: Peterborough Rate: £37.00 per hour (Hybrid working 3 days in office) Job Type: Contract 12+ Months - PAYE The Role: The role will involve taking part in, and have significant responsibility for, the end-to-end design/development process for engine components and systems. This giving you true product ownership and the opportunity to see the products through to volume production. Other duties to include; Execution of Core Engine System validation consisting of static & dynamic rigs, dyno and machine testing Conducting risk assessment through effective FMEA generation on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs. Be capable of understanding technical issues as they arise and execute root cause analysis through relevant tools, methods, data analysis and testing to resolve the issue Understanding of techniques to deliver effective cost reduction on components and larger systems Conduct or generate reports to support component and system design reviews Working in a multi-disciplined team to ensure solutions meet customer, durability and functional requirements Developing strong relationships with suppliers to ensure design solutions are aligned to high quality and cost expectations Conduct or generate reports to support component and system design reviews Maintain communication to peers, team leader and stakeholders with progress against planned activities Requirements Strong technical background (HNC or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering) Knowledge of Diesel engine core systems such as Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, Castings, Lubrication, Breather and Cooling systems Good understanding of Manufacturing principles & processes Validation experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rig and complete system testing. Self-motivation and an ability to manage and deliver tasks to meet established commitments.
