This role comes to market from a specialist vehicle manufacturer with a strong history of design in the UK. Continuing to invest in new vehicle development and growing their UK R&D team they are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to join their Electrified Chassis team. This is a great opportunity for those interested in Electric Vehicles to work on the design and development of chassis and chassis systems for EV including the integration of the components and systems required for vehicle electrification. A varied role you will work across the full design lifecycle from requirements definition through design, supporting validation and product launch. You will also be responsible for problem solving throughout the product lifecycle. Sound Interesting? For this role they are seeking a mechanical design engineer with 3+ years industry experience, this should include experience in structural design of heavy fabrications and some exposure to working with electric, hybrid or hydrogen vehicles. Further skills sought include: * Degree qualified mechanical engineer or HND + equivalent experience * Strong 3D CAD skills including modelling, general arrangement and production drawings * Strong understanding of geometric tolerances, stress, fatigues and FEA * Experience in structural design * Knowledge of the design process behind manufacturing processes such as casting and welded fabrication. * Able to design to meet cost, weight and performance targets. * Experience with design activities including DVP&R, DFMEA and Risk analysis * Knowledge of Electric vehicle design with an understanding of EV systems/equipment such as electric drivetrain, HV batteries, thermal management, inverters etc In return they are offering good opportunities for further development, flexible working hours, hybrid working with up to 2 days a week worked from home and competitive benefits.
