Excellent opportunity for a Materials Manager to join a leading business based in Shoreham-by-Sea. This is a permanent role paying £50,000 + benefits. Overall management of inventory and warehouse operations within the facility Manage a team of individuals responsible for material movement from receipt through to dispatch, mentoring them appropriately to ensure a progressive approach Ensure a safe environment for all direct staff and colleagues/visitors within the warehouse and delivery/collection apron Achieve a standard of cleanliness and order within the warehouse commensurate with a premium band operation and customer base Monitor Inventory accuracy Develop KPI's / performance metrics for the materials and warehouse function Ensure internal material distribution is robust and process driven Work closely with the production team to map out all logistics and materials management workflows and locations - identifying opportunities to remove waste and improve efficiencies Design, prove out and integrate a robust cycle counting / perpetual inventory process and ensure it aligns to policies. Manage annual stock take process until such time that regular cycle counting process is embedded appropriately Meet internal stakeholders, to discuss/define requirements and coordinate continuous improvement activities seamlessly Support the business on its journey to IATF16949 accreditation with particular focus on warehouse and materials management processes Liaise with procurement and supply chain functions to develop a robust inventory reduction strategy Investigate and improve internal material movement processes in conjunction with MRP/ERP system utilisation and process creation Support the roll out and training of the logistics team members and maintain a robust skills matrix Engage with systems team to ensure weaknesses in current MRP/ERP system are captured and improved as we migrate to a new system (Infor LN implementation in H1 2021) Report back to senior stakeholders, including end customer, regularly and take direction on prioritisation of activities Person Specification Proven experience in a production/operational management role Solid understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems & strategies Strong data management skills and IT literacy. Experience with SAP & Baan an advantage Ability to work in a cross functional team including, but not limited to, Procurement/NPI/Engineering/Logistics/Quality and Manufacturing. Attention to detail, accurate, numerically astute with a passion for achieving excellence Have a firm understanding of process improvement techniques and experience applying these to make organizational changes Ability to manage time, must be organised and committed to deadlines Ability to improve/write robust processes to be embedded into the business Ability to communicate well with the team, invested stakeholders and senior management 6 SIGMA training would be beneficial Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with in-house warehouse essential Knowledge of IATF16949 and its requirements Demonstrable experience at a detailed level of warehouse processes and procedures Demonstrable experience in delivering to tangible inventory reduction targets
