A prestigious automotive component manufacturer in Aycliffe seeks a dedicated individual to join their team as a Manufacturing and Machining Engineer. This role places you at the heart of engineering excellence, providing crucial support to both current operational and new project facilities and processes. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, you will be engaged in a stimulating 37.5-hour workweek, and the potential for overtime. The ideal candidate will possess a robust knowledge of automotive chassis products and the processes employed at the Aycliffe plant. Mastery of machining processes and associated tooling in an automated environment is essential, as is the ability to create and modify NC programmes using G & N Coding. Your expertise will also extend to planning, assessing lead-times, and evaluating costs to discern the impact of product and process alterations. Adept at organising personnel, products, and processes, you will play a pivotal role in the seamless introduction of changes. Your commitment to safety is paramount, as you will be expected to be fully conversant with the safe working practices required in a production/automated environment. Your mechanical comprehension, numerical computation skills, and technical understanding will be put to the test, as will your innate ability to work independently and manage resources effectively. A strong communicator, you will possess the interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate across teams, coupled with a problem-solving mindset that focuses on root cause analysis. Familiarity with Gestamp & OEM Customer Specific Standards is advantageous, as is the capacity to plan and prioritise to meet objectives. Candidates must be educated to a minimum of HNC level or equivalent, demonstrating a commitment to continuous personal and professional development. Your responsibilities will include supporting operational performance meetings, actively participating in the introduction of new products, implementing countermeasures to customer concerns, and engaging in regular improvement activities. Additionally, you will conduct productivity analyses and design, manufacture, and commission facility and fixture improvements.
