Main purpose of job You will deliver excellent asset optimisation for manufacturing processes within your area, a key member of the production team you will ensure combined integration of manufacture engineering, Health, Safety and Quality standards. Main duties/key tasks * Develop and support best practices including FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) studies, value stream mapping, SPC (Statistical Process Control) and SOP Standard Operating Procedures. * Drive root cause resolution of product failure, supporting 8D investigations and practical problem solving exercises. * Improve processes to reduce non value added activity while ensuring safety and product quality. * Work on multiple Manufacturing Engineering Projects to improve Quality, Cost and Delivery * Maintain and Improve BOM, routings and ERP system accuracy. * Work with new and existing vendors to reduce cost on tooling. * Extract data from Cad models to define BOM, routings and Tooling requirements. * Effectively work with suppliers of engineering services at site. * In conjunction with the Section Leaders ensure engineering standards are maintained and all activities are conducted in a safe, cost effective and timely manner. * Support the development of the lean culture * To liaise with other departments requiring advice and guidance on engineering subjects * Having a pragmatic, hands-on approach to problem solving Communication * Ensure that effective and regular communication takes place regarding project progress. * Attend regular team communication forums and ensure that relevant information is communicated effectively * Develop and foster good working relationships with peers, related functions, internal and external customers Health & Safety * Comply at all times with the letter and spirit of the Company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policy, Equality Policy and Code of Conduct. * Ensure that full co-operation is given to the Health & Safety Department in relation to risk assessments and accident reporting incidences General Responsibilities * Comply with all other company policies & procedures * Attend training identified by the Company to support personal development. * Work closely with the other Company Departments to deliver appropriate standards in line with company policies * Delivery a seamless interface with internal and external customers Skills & Experiences - Experience of working in a lean operating environment, and as part of a high performance team - Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification to Green Belt standard would be advantageous – having already worked in an organization focused on continuous improvement and implementing best practices. - Must be capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications - Competence in the use of, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other business management systems. - Highly developed analytical skills - Effective project planning skills - Root cause problem solving and practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering Credentials - Minimum 3 years Manufacturing / Process Engineering Experience - Bachelor's degree or HNC and equivalent experience in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years - Experience in the Aerospace industry and understanding of AS 9100 standards would be advantageous - NEBOSH certified preferred Other Tasks: - Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the jobholder’s line manager.
