Their duties include choosing the best technologies and processes to manufacture products, planning and designing the factory that will produce the product, and managing the running, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the manufacturing process. This role is for an aerospace company supplying engine mounts, engine casings, aerofoils, and structural parts. Aerospace experience is essential. Description of Job Role Evaluating quality control processes and making recommendations for improvements. Analysing and reporting on production processes, methods, schedules, downtime, cycle times, availability of machines, and waste management. Ensuring that the organisation's manufacturing processes comply with relevant policies and government laws and regulations. Reviewing and calculating the costs of the different tools and equipment in the production process and predicting the overheads in future production requirements. Analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency. Overseeing operations staff to ensure they follow the manufacturer's procedures and instructions while operating the equipment. Establishing an effective work sequence. Providing manufacturing decision-making information, e.g., calculating production/material costs or supporting make-or-buy decisions. Designing CNC programmes using CADCAM. Leading operations improvement activities and identifying and implementing best practice manufacturing methods to improve quality and productivity while reducing waste/cost. Providing production engineering support and expertise to operations staff. Evaluating and recommending new methods, design changes, tooling, and fixtures to reduce manufacturing and assembly time. Reducing product cost with process capability. Training and supporting operations staff by providing expertise and creating training manuals and work instructions as required. Developing Process FMEA's and Control Plans. Maintaining elements used within the Manufacturing Bill of Materials (BoM), lead times, material usage, costing, etc., including updating the ERP system.Skills Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD-CAM-CAE software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Vericut, Mastercam, and Siemens NX. CNC programming skills - 5 axis simultaneous. Machining skills and practices. Project management skills. Proficiency in 8D problem-solving. Knowledge of MRP systems. Experience with BoM creation. Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and model data. Skills in production area layout to maximise efficiency and workflow. Expertise in manufacturing process design. Ability to draft standard operating procedures. Capability to identify manufacturing improvement projects. Competence in analysing production processes. Ability to outline capital expenditure justifications.Desired Skills Knowledge of APQP/PAPP. Green belt / black belt certification.Aerospace Experience Experience in the aerospace industry is essential, particularly with products such as engine mounts, engine casings, aerofoils, and structural parts
