Maintenance Technician

My client a leading Eastbourne based world renowned manufacturer of engineering solutions are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will assist in performing routine maintenance and breakdown activities as assigned and will take the lead in issues concerning electrical safety, legislative compliance and installation. This will include providing hands on skills to diagnose and repair electrical faults and routine electrical compliance testing. Where appropriate you will be responsible for supervising contractors whilst on site and ensuring that they work in a safe manner. There will be opportunities to work with Project Engineers to specify the electrical requirements for new installations and to oversee and approve those installations before accepting responsibility for them. You will provide electrical expertise to a small maintenance team dedicated to improving and maintaining the site production equipment and facilities. Main Duties:- Investigate and resolve electrical breakdowns and failures across the site Provide initial response and assessment Co-ordinate with external contractors as necessary Record all activities on the maintenance system Assist in carrying out routine maintenance and legislative activities across the site. Perform maintenance and legislative testing tasks as assigned Schedule external contractors as required Issue permits and carry out site inductions for contractors Supervise contractors whilst on site to ensure safety procedures are followed Ensure all maintenance is completed to schedule Ensure any follow-up actions are completed and documented in a timely manner Provide electrical expertise to other project Engineers. Assist in writing specifications for electrical services required and organise quotations Schedule resource as required Supervise installation when approved Identify replacement equipment Write project financial justification When approved plan and oversee implementation phase of project liaising with all relevant departments. Update site records for new plant and set up Accountable for delivery on KPI’s: In house maintenance request closure rate H&S KPI’s including contractor safety Financial KPI’s relating to meeting approved spend (CEPs) on agreed projects Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Must have experience in Industrial three phase electrical installation Fully conversant in 17th/18th Edition regulations Able to test electrical installations (C&G 2391 or equivalent) Experienced working in a maintenance department in a factory environment preferred Use of maintenance scheduling tools e.g. Planet FM Use of Work Permit systems. Work on both production and facilities equipment Willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to assist in mechanical breakdowns.
