Lead Mechanical Engineer - £60 per hour inside ir35 - 6 months (extensions highly likely) - Hybrid working - (2-3 days onsite) - Hertfordshire - 1 stage interview - Sector: Aerospace & Defence Yolk recruitment is recruiting for Lead Mechanical Engineer to work with a prominent aerospace manufacturing client that is creating cutting edge defence technology pushing the boundaries of the industry. This exciting role is to gather and manage the aerospace products mechanical architecture requirements to achieve performance, on time and on cost and overall layout vs compliance. This project has been designated a SC status, Security clearance must be attained before starting the position. Responsibilities: Establishing the Airframe Task Requirements Specification (TRS) to ensure a structured & coherent mechanical response to the overall Missile TRS Management of the mechanical interface with the launching system Management of Mechanical & Thermal Interfaces across the product Defining the optimum mechanical architecture for all variants of the prodcut, ensuring the mechanical architecture and interfaces meet requirements. Implementation of GMA Policies to ensure Modularity & Reuse objectives are achieved Development of the overall proving logic for the validation of the Airframe Ensuring mechanical compliance to the Airframe TRS for certificate of design Interface with and manage customer expectations throughout the development process. Producing Statements of Work and plans for activities within their sphere of responsibility. Direct technical supervision of engineers within their team and indirect management of engineers in the extended project team Controlling assigned budgets, managing personal workload Core Skills: Ability to technically manage internal & sub-contract activities. Good knowledge & experience of aerospace mechanical design, for example: Static & Dynamic Analysis of Design for Environment of Thermal Management Good understanding of broader engineering disciplines, for example: Aerodynamics, Testability, Production Experience developing proving logic and managing the generation of compliance evidence towards Certificates of Design Experience across the full Product Life Cycle Ability to influence senior managers and other stakeholders. Desirable Skills: Hold a current SC security clearance. Previous experience within aerospace and defence sector
