Lead Mechanical Engineer - Attractive Northern England or Bristol - Permanent and Long Term - Military and Defence A Lead Mechanical Engineer is required for an international Defence and Weapons Systems Company that is expanding their team. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements is available for this position. Salary and Seniority will depend on your skills and experience. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team and will be involved in supporting technical changes to existing company products (i.e Defence and Weapons Systems). The Lead Mechanical Engineer will be involved in the Mechanical Design, Tests and Trials and will have the opportunity to shape the next generation of defence/weapons platforms and future technologies. Key Duties and Responsibilities for the Lead Mechanical Engineer Leveraging your Mechanical Engineering experience, to lead development of mechanical engineering systems, equipment and components. Work with other engineers, suppliers and manufacturing teams to deliver mechanical engineering systems, equipment and components which integrate into a complex array of cross-functional interactions. Engaging and building relationships with suppliers to develop and capture equipment and component specifications that meet the challenging demands of the product. Working directly with the customer to develop requirements and acceptance criteria based on operational scenarios, user cases and other design considerations. Taking lead for performing and reviewing engineering calculations and analysis to make decisions and demonstrate system performance. Co-ordinating, managing and leveraging a wide stakeholder base to solve complex engineering problems and make responsible engineering decisions. Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required for the Lead Mechanical Engineer Mechanical Engineering background in Rotator Machinery, Components or Fluid Dynamics. Experience of applying mechanical engineering in different products. Experience of different stages of an engineering and product lifecycle. Experience mentoring junior engineers. Ability to prioritise workload. An interest in problem solving. Ability to solve complex engineering calculations. Educated to Degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science Subjects .
