Lead Engineer - Production Tooling Are you an experienced Lead Engineer with a background in tooling, design, and development? Do you have an Injection Moulding automotive background? Read on to find out more... Major Recruitment are working in partnership Polytec, a leading automotive manufacturer, to recruit a Lead Engineer on a permanent basis based in Telford. Key Responsibilities of a Lead Engineer: Leading the Production Injection Molding team. Providing support and direction to the team members. Creating future tooling strategy for the business. Managing Departmental and Tooling budget. Plan and manage team resource requirements based on customer requirements Interact with the Tooling specialists to create a common way of working. Provide technical knowledge of IMM tooling design and manufacture, investigate /review Mold Flow, tooling feasibility, timing and introduction of tooling into production stages from T1to T4, including process development, up to PSW phase. Liaison with toolmakers, internal design, engineering, manufacturing and relevant external customers. Overview/implement of Tool Modifications from feasibility/timing/cost (Customer/internal) completing all relevant paperwork for customers and internal. Assist in the delivery of the agreed engineering objectives established in the Annual Business Deployment Plan. Work on multiple major projects requiring innovative solutions that advance the technical field. Support the development of Tooling process/IMM processes and strategic planning that will affect the Company's success. Help implement & manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices & processes. Lead the development of a world class Tooling Engineering Team to support the expansion of the business. Lead the introduction of innovative technical solutions and strategy for the business going forward. Responsible for leading tooling specification in projects from cradle to grave, including engineering changes Responsible for ensuring that the product design is 1) feasible & 2) optimized, for tooling & manufacture Responsible for the Engineering elements within the detailed MS-Project Plan and in line with the complete project scope, customer milestones & PEP Gateway timing Support the planning & preparation of Gate Way Approvals 1-8 in accordance with PEP/Project timing Responsible for accurate & timely fulfilment of all customer Engineering systems requiring inputs Support PMs in their periodical alignment of the C-BOT with PD via Plan Value Changes (i.e. in-time for each PEP gateway approval from GW3 to GW8)Skills required to be a successful Lead Engineer: Degree-qualified in a relative-Engineering discipline Membership of an industry related Professional Body would be advantageous 10+ years in automotive Injection Molding tooling introduction 5+ years in a Product-Development Engineering position 5+ years in plastics NPD / NPI, preferably within a Tier-1 Injection Molding manufacturer Specific experience in the design/construction of Injection Molding Exterior Trim Assemblies - preferred Highly Proficient in viewing CAD in Catia and/or SpinFire, Etc Good understanding of Mould flow & CAE tools Excellent knowledge and skills in PowerPoint, MS-Excel, Word & Outlook, Etc.
