Junior Mechanic/Vehicle Maintenance Person – HGV’s Location: South-East London Salary: Up to £35k basic depending on experience About Us CD Waste Management are a successful, independent waste management and recycling company based in South East London. We specialise in the reclamation and processing of all recycling streams using our fleet of vehicles and our range of Compaction Machinery. Job Description We are looking for a Junior Mechanic to join our Transport Department to ensure day-to-day defects that the drivers report on our fleet of vehicles are addressed and fixed. This can range from replacing lightbulbs, fixing broken mirrors, ensuring tyre integrity/pressure to refuelling and ensuring all vehicles are topped up with ad-blue and washer fluid. All of the vehicles are on R&M contracts with a local garage so the candiate will not be expected to carry out major repairs. Responsibilities: - Perform regular maintenance on HGVs. - Identify and fix mechanical and/or electrical issues or book in for repairs. - General maintenance duties as needed. - Taking vehicles for their MOT. - Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is accurately documented. - Keep work station clean and tidy. Competencies and Credentials - A basic mechanical understanding of HGV’s - Experience with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic tools. - Capacity to identify problems and offer workable answers. - HGV licence preferable If you have the required experience, we look forward to receiving your cv and speaking in more depth about the role.
