Order Ref: 38872 Position Title: Joining Engineer Duration: 9 Month Rolling Contract Location: Halewood Division: Manufacturing Engineering Position Description: Joining Development Engineer In this role you will manage Vendors and coupon test facility. Resolve Process designer issues for joining technologies to protect the customer. Advise PD of any issues and co-ordinate with CAE for any joint strength data. Optimise process designer for all relevant joining technologies (adhesive, rivet, EJOT/EJOWELD/RSW and Fusion joining process) allocations. Ensure documentation required is available and Process Designer and is updated with the latest parameters and feedback from technology testing / reviews. Raising / tracking and liaising with PD with regards to deviations. Drive Vendors to achieve weld expulsion, adhesive bead optimisation and adhesive bead expulsion levels that do not contaminate tooling and joining equipment. Support JRM activities and ensure administration tasks have been completed. Process Designer core skills training will be provided by the Client if required. Skills Required: Joining Technologies Excel experience CAD What You'll Need Ability to transfer your knowledge base in an Engineering/Analytical industry and transfer best practices into the Clients' automotive environment. Proficient with Excel, Pivot tables and understand how to progress interrogation techniques of data is a requirement of the role. Ideally but not limited to the ability to advice on best practices on Resistance Spot welding with Bosch adaptive welding with Aro Servo weld guns, Self-Pierce Riveting with Tucker guns, Adhesive SCA with structural as well as gap and Hem fill applied applications. Understand how to optimise process and advise Product Engineering on changes to ensure optimum joint conditions are achieved for each joining technology. Hands on equipment interrogation and parameter modification will also be required. Training will be provided by the Client if required. You'll be self-motivated but also a good team player with the ability to listen effectively to others, portraying an enthusiastic attitude and demonstrating passion and enthusiasm to the rest of the team. The ability to take the lead is essential, as is the ability to achieve results by meeting deliverables and commitments. You'll be confident when communicating with people in the project and at all levels of the company with good written and spoken communication skills. Furthermore, you'll be a pro-active problem solver with excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills. You will need to be persistent and able to deal with challenging scenarios working with multiple 3rd parties with the ability to work in an ever-changing environment where deadlines / priorities change, and you need to have the ability to be flexible to meet the business needs. Flexibility to travel Experience Required: Manage suppliers to deliver a working solution into a production facility. Ability to analyse results and provide technical analysis of data Able to generate Requests for Quotation (RFQ) with technical detail for joining technologies. Manage vendor joining engineers to deliver technical solutions and capture key issues with the product to work with the engineering team to problem solve solutions as part of a data driven exercise. Review CAD data for joining solutions and ability to work with CAD and Siemens Process designer. Experience Preferred: Self-Pierce Riveting (SPR), TIG, MIG, LASER, Resistance Spot Welding, Friction Stir Welding applications, Adhesive, Flow drive screw applications Additional Information : Location: Halewood
