We are recruiting for an experienced Import Manager to join a well-established, global client who are expanding their team. As the Import Manager at you will play a pivotal part in overseeing the import of products from international suppliers with frequent communication with partners in the far east. Your responsibilities will include coordinating import shipment activities, ensuring compliance with international and domestic regulations, and managing the import process from negotiation to timely delivery. We are seeking a candidate who has experience with Sea freight, has strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and has strong, respectful relationships with key industry stakeholders and third parties. To apply for this role, you must have experience in international trade and customs regulations. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate import shipment activities, including customs clearance and documentation. Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to imports. Liaise with freight forwarders and third parties to ensure efficient import processes and accurate paperwork. Communicate internally with key stakeholders regarding inbound shipments, advising on cost reduction and control strategies. Monitor and analyse import data, identifying compliance issues and taking corrective actions. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to imports, engaging with international colleagues. Prepare and submit required reports to internal and external stakeholders. Support system maintenance and data integrity. Collaborate on sales opportunities, providing costings when appropriate. General administration and support for the Purchasing & Customer Services team.Key Competencies/Attributes: Deadline-oriented, able to work under pressure in a busy sales environment. Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills. Effective communication skills, with confidence in liaising with external customers and stakeholders. Works independently and as a team player. Takes responsibility for logistics providers involved in import and export, ensuring appropriateness and capability. Strong numeracy skills and working knowledge of shipping documentation. Familiarity with Incoterms and any Import/Export certification (IoSCM) would be beneficial. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Knowledge of SAP, SPEX, Aurora (Infor) is an advantage.
