HEAD OF PRODUCTION, PLANNING and LOGISTICS Background: The business is developing its Senior Manufacturing Team for the future, to enable it to meet demand and lead its advanced manufacturing capability, to deliver its high value assets to customers worldwide. The role: The role will involve defining and deploying the strategy for this discipline, ensuring that manufacturing operations run smoothly, and the business consistently meets customer needs and its strategic objectives Location: Blackburn/Preston Salary: £85,000 - £95,000 Benefits: Bonus 15%-30% Performance/Profit Linked, Company Car Allowance (£680 pcm), Private Health Care, Relocation Assistance, PPS 4%/6%, Holidays 25 + 8 pa Work Hours: Monday - Friday (On-site) - Flexibility to Hybrid 3 days onsite 2 days remote Reports: Senior Level / Equivalent 6-8 people direct, overall oversight of 60 in facility Reports Into: Production Director / Board International Scope: Close liaisons with US based partners Travel: Unlikely but should not rule out Qualification: Degree preferred; Experience also weighted into this pre-requisite Type of experience: Large business (MNC's), complex manufacturing (automotive, aerospace, OEM etc.), culturally similar Requirements and Responsibilities: * Lead and inspire a large team of planning and logistics professionals to achieve operational excellence across a wide range of manufacturing functions. * Develop and implement strategies to enhance production planning and logistics processes, ensuring alignment with business goals. * Drive manufacturing performance improvements through effective planning, with a focus on long-term sustainability. * Oversee the flow of materials and products, managing the ERP system to ensure efficient logistical support. * Manage external supply chain operations, collaborating closely with procurement to meet internal and customer requirements. * Act as the System and Manufacturing data owner, providing essential support to operational teams. * Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards within the planning and logistics functions. * Foster strong relationships with senior stakeholders and customers to ensure BAE Systems remains a trusted and preferred partner. * Identify and manage dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations across multi-functional teams. Requirements: * Extensive experience in production planning within a large manufacturing OEM organisation. * Proven leadership in managing large teams, particularly in a complex and regulated environment. * Familiarity with the effective use of ERP systems in low to medium volume manufacturing environments. * Certified in Planning and Inventory Management. * Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. * Strong track record in driving performance improvements through strategic planning. * Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across broad internal and external networks. Desirable: * Experience in implementing and operating an effective Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. * Engaging leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement and team development.
