D33P Search are working with a consultancy, manufacturing, and composite company specialising in engineering and design. They have developed skills in project and supply chain management with quality systems and processes to deliver complex solutions to the highest standards and is driven by an innovative spirit, renowned for applying state-of-the-art technologies to the automotive, defence, aerospace, rail, and marine sectors. They are currently undergoing a really exciting programme of work involving the modernisation of vehicles from the 70/80/90s. Responsibilities * Company Policies: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company * Lead engineering design and development of components & sub-systems which manage the delivery for powertrain and chassis * Lead engineering development for powertrain calibration and chassis attributes including homologation for emissions to meet UK & European regulations. * Working collaboratively with key senior stakeholders, to deliver the customer requirements at a vehicle level * Work closely with the Engineering Analysis team (FEA) to meet design targets and drive the most cost-effective solutions * Work closely with Manufacturing to agree feasible manufacturing solutions and to control the engineering change process. Ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM) philosophy is integrated into Powertrain designs * Communicate with the Director of Engineering and Group Directors on working progress and to ensure you have the required level of support and help when required * Support Programme team to ensure project deliverables are achieved * Communicate design solutions to internal stake holders and external customers * Maintain communication with internal and external customers on a regular basis * Manage the sign off process relative to your commodity in line with NPI guidelines * Participate in formal and on the job training which will be provided regards the use of software and design techniques * Support and mentor the engineers within your team with your experience and knowledge Essential Skills * Engineering degree or equivalent within a relevant subject * Experience and knowledge within the powertrain and chassis discipline * Strong system delivery experience within a major OEM * Strong understanding of CAD and CAE Literacy using Catia V5 * High level of Engineering design knowledge * Experience of working in a Powertrain Systems Engineering environment. * Experience of powertrain and chassis attribute development and homologation * Strong knowledge of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance * Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance across a range of stakeholders * Ability to manage and effectively lead and direct teams * GD&T, can demonstrate good understanding * Strong understanding and awareness of design to manufacturing process * Understanding importance of managing engineering change requests and claim management This position is Full time on site at their site in Basildon.
