Head of Mechanical Systems About the Role As the Head of Mechanical Systems, you will be an integral part of the business’s engineering team. Reporting directly to the Chief Technical Officer, you will manage complex mechanical system designs and ensure successful integration with body structures and electrical systems. This role demands a minimum of 10 years of experience in complex mechanical system design, effective communication skills, and strong project management abilities. Key Roles & Responsibilities Technical Management Manage cross-functional engineering teams to deliver projects. Oversee all mechanical system elements of engineering projects. Lead and unify mechanical design methodologies for projects. Develop design specifications to meet budget and timeline requirements. Utilize CAE tools (in-house & external) for concept and component engineering. Direct and implement risk analysis (DFMEA) across project scopes. Lead design for manufacturing (DFM) discussions with suppliers. Approve technical engineering drawings at the Senior Engineer level. Define and manage mechanical component & system testing requirements. Oversee mechanical component & system testing and project validation. Lead the mechanical system build process and servicing considerations. Project Management Prepare and deliver project design specifications, both internal and client-facing Manage project engineering budgets. Oversee engineering resources to ensure project delivery. Manage project design reviews, both internal and client-facing. Conduct project cost and timing reviews, both internal and client-facing. Ensure project delivery aligns with KWSP operations. Personnel Development Support the management and development of graduate engineers and junior team members. Represent the business in promotional activities, including technology shows, industry trade fairs, and STEM events. Required Qualifications Minimum of 10 years' experience in complex mechanical system design. Proven track record in technical management of engineering projects. Strong leadership skills and the ability to unify design methodologies. Extensive experience with CAE tools for engineering purposes. Proficiency in risk analysis and design for manufacturing (DFM). Excellent project management skills, including budget and resource management. Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with clients and suppliers at all levels. Ability to develop and manage engineering specifications and requirements. Experience in leading and developing engineering teams.
