RSR have a fantastic opportunity to work at the London Heliport in their Firefighting/ Ground handling department. The two roles merge into one to ensure customers helicopters are safely met when touching down and any risk of fire is prevented. Jobs Roles Fire Fighter The principal objective of a Rescue and Fire Fighting service is to save lives. With the Operational objective of responding as quickly as possible to aircraft accidents/incidents in order to create maximum opportunity for saving life. Ground Handler The safe evolution of an aircraft turnaround on the apron, this will include, aircraft marshalling, fuelling, passenger and luggage handling, aircraft safety and aircraft movements, all of which can be locally trained. This role involves difficult physical work as well as the skill to apply previously acquired knowledge to work effectively as a small team in emergency situations, involving the protection of life and property by extinguishing and preventing fires. The work will include training for and participating in firefighting duties along with providing emergency care for sick or injured personnel when called upon. On a day to day basis the role is to facilitate the smooth running of a busy heliport including and not limited to maintenance of all ground equipment and fire apparatus, general housekeeping on site, training in new and existing firefighting techniques and promoting aviation safety. Role and Responsibilities Acting as a member of the Heliport RFFS team, in accordance with the relevant sections of the Heliport Manual. Respond to emergency situations according to your role in the RFFS team and as defined in the Heliport Emergency Orders. Acting as a member of the Heliport Airside Handling team, including carrying out checks and inspections on PPE, RPE, equipment, vehicles, quality checks and stock control (including fire-fighting media, aviation fuel), in accordance with the relevant sections of the Heliport Manual. Note and record any deficiencies and report these to the responsible supervisor so that they can be recorded and where possible corrected as soon as possible. Carry out passenger and baggage handling duties, fuel quality, delivery and supply, aircraft marshalling and mechanical handling. Various light maintenance duties to land, property and equipment (including sweeping, snow clearance, weeding, painting, signage). To perform all duties as trained and observe responsibilities in accordance with the Company Health, Safety & Environment Policy, Safety Management Systems and other company policies and procedures, observing external regulatory authorities as appropriate. Undergo initial and recurrent training as defined in the Heliport Manual Volume 2 RFFS. Undertake other duties as delegated by your line manager including assisting the operations coordinators. Desirables Current Breathing Apparatus Wearer Competency Cat C1 Driving license Minimum First Aid at Work Essentials Right to work in the UK Hold a UK driving license Physically fit Verbal and written communication IT literacy with Windows excel, word and power point Previous fire fighter experience Working Conditions Salaried starting at £37,000 rising to £39,864 (subject to completion of a 6 month probationary period. This period may be adjusted depending on experience) Hours: Heliport permitted operating hours: 07:30 - 19:30 Current RFFS operating hours: 06:30 - 19:30 Shift pattern is a 4 days on 4 days off rotation. The above times are permitted to change, early or late extension dependant. Late extension up until 23:00. This is to cover operational requirements
