Engineering Technician – Aerodynamics Permanent Bedford £30,000 - £38,000 Full time, 40 hours - 7am to 3pm and 2pm to 10pm rotating weekly Our client, a leading Aerospace firm based in Bedford, is seeking a dynamic and skilled Engineering Technician to join their innovative team. With a focus on cutting-edge wind tunnel technology, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of aerodynamics and engineering research. In this role, you will be responsible for operating aerodynamic test facilities safely and efficiently to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities will include equipment calibration, model assembly, troubleshooting, and implementing improvements for testing in wind tunnels and associated equipment. Please note: Due to the nature of the role, applicants are required to have been residing in the UK for at least 5 years. Responsibilities: Prepare and assemble models for testing, considering quality, schedule, and costs. Install optical measurement systems in test facilities. Operate the transonic wind tunnel and associated equipment. Utilise complementary test facilities and equipment. Develop aerodynamic test facilities and equipment, including control systems. Make recommendations for process or hardware improvements. Assist with wind tunnel model preparation, data handling, and photography. Perform general departmental duties and maintenance tasks. Qualifications and Skills: Experienced technician with HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and high-pressure mechanics. Previous experience in R&D or commercial environments. Proficiency in working with small precision assemblies. Attributes: Deadline-oriented team player with drive and commitment. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Willing to undergo training for necessary skills and safety practices. Flexible with working hours and adaptable to changing workloads.
