Development & Research Technician Peterborough PA1 £15.50p/h We are recruiting for a Development & Research Technician for one of our clients based in Peterborough. You will be working for a globally recognised company. This is initially a 12-month contract role but could be extended. Based in Peterborough, you will be part of the Engine Electronic Systems and Software Team which is responsible for development and implementation of electrical and electronic control systems for powertrains. The role of workshop technician is in the support of test equipment capabilities for the Engine and Machine controls and software division. The role involves the build and maintenance of, primarily, the load boxes for automated test equipment along with other manual test equipment. The bespoke equipment comprises of electrical/electronic modules, harness related components and sub-systems and the associated mechanical housings. Key Responsibilities of the Development & Research Technician: • Understanding and applying electrical schematic drawings and pinouts • The ability to assemble and mechanically build test boxes to a schematic drawing. • Good mechanical hand skills and ensuring quality in the result eg: Drilling, tapping, using suitable hand tools • The assembly of (non-production environment) cabling/harnesses to a schematic drawing and pinout eg: cutting and crimping terminals, soldering and the assembly of connectors • Following safety procedures • Create technical sketches from the needs of the engineers • Define the electronic/electrical/mechanical components required for the project • Search and select suitable electrical components for order • Fault finding and resolve equipment issues using hand held electrical measurement tools eg: multimeter and oscilloscope • Previous Technical experience of Electronic/Electrical products or related Production systems • Previous experience of building Electronic/Electrical equipment and harnesses Qualifications & Experience for the Development & Research Technician: • HNC or equivalent • Experience in electrical, electronic, mechanical, control systems or automotive engineering industries. • Previous Technical experience of Electronic/Electrical products or related Production systems • Previous experience of building Electronic/Electrical equipment and harnesses • Practical equipment assembly capabilities Hours & Pay for the Development & Research Technician: • 08:00-16:45 Mon-Thurs • 08:00-16:15 Fri. • £15.50p/h LMIND
