To provide leadership and direction to the despatch team, and manage workloads to achieve business goals. To ensure delivery metrics are achieved, inbound and outbound logistical activities are managed (Import and Export), and compliance is maintained against internal processes and external regulations. Key Responsibilities: Undertake daily tier meeting to manage departmental workload and assign activities in line with business requirements. Undertake manager of people activities including 1 to 1s, goal setting, performance appraisals, development plans, managing planned and unplanned absence. Generate and process despatch paperwork in line with customer order requirements and regulatory requirements including export. Manage the handling, packing and dispatching of hazardous and non-hazardous items in accordance with current regulations for transportation by road, sea or air. Engage with forwarders, shipping companies and couriers, utilising freight management software. Arrange and monitor logistical activities for UK and International shipments. Communicate shipping status with internal customers including AWB / BOL, tracking details, and proof of delivery. Issue import customs clearance instructions. Maintain compliance with customs and government regulations. Provide support to HMRC queries, communications, and audits. Ensure Import and Export documentation is archived in line with company procedures. Conduct all operations according to company EHS guidelines. Qualification and Experience: Minimum of 18 months experience in a complex administrative environment. Leadership skills. Experience in a shipping / logistics environment is highly desirable. Experience working within a highly regulated industry, ideally Aerospace, is highly desirable. Knowledge of import/export procedures, Incoterms, export licenses is desirable. Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
