Design Engineer - Body Structures Role: Responsible for the design and development of Body Structure for bus applications. Support the creation of 3D CAD data to meet programme timing requirements. Aid in the release of geometry for tooling. Ensure components meet perceived quality targets for fit and finish. Ensure cost, quality, and timing align with business requirements. Support the management of the supplier base. Accountabilities & Activities for the Design Engineer – Body Structures: Collaborate within a team of engineers to: Support the supplier base through regular meetings and documentation. Participate with purchasing teams to ensure timely component delivery. Develop 3D CAD geometry in line with programme timing. Resolve complex engineering issues. Conduct Problem Definition and Root Cause Analysis, leading to Interim and Permanent Corrective Actions. Create and manage timing plans, ensuring adherence to agreed timelines with a cross-functional team. Maintain and update documentation, keeping accurate records of investigations, communications, and actions. Create clash-free CAD geometry ensuring designs meet all Manufacturing & Service requirements. Participate in design reviews to ensure adherence to Design Standards. Utilise Quality History Reviews and Design Failure Modes & Effects Analyses in new system designs. Design Engineer - Body Structures Requirements: Degree-level education or relevant experience in an engineering field (Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical). 1-5 years recent experience in Body Structure design. Knowledge of Vehicle Electrification and Body Structure impact (preferable). Excellent communication skills to interact with all engineering functions. Proficiency in generating and presenting technical material concisely to suit the audience. Ability to work in a start-up environment. Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and changing priorities. CAD system knowledge (Solidworks/Catia or similar). Experience in new product development within the automotive industry for worldwide market requirements.
